Smart contract audits: common questions

What teams usually ask us before a smart contract audit.

When should we have a smart contract audited?

Before it goes to mainnet, and again after any change to the code. A deployed contract cannot be edited in place (upgradeable contracts change only through their own upgrade mechanism) and its bytecode is public, so a flaw found after launch can be exploited by anyone who spots it. Reviewing the design early in development also costs less than fixing a design flaw later.

Which blockchains do you cover?

We audit smart contracts written for Ethereum and EVM-compatible chains.

What does a smart contract audit include?

A manual review of the code and of the business logic it implements, supported by automated analysis and fuzz testing. We look both for known classes of smart contract vulnerabilities, such as those collected in the OWASP Smart Contract Top 10, and for flaws in the logic specific to your project.

What do we receive at the end of the audit?

A report that lists the issues found, ranked by severity, with their impact and how to fix them. Once you have applied the fixes, we check them.

Do you also test the DApp front-end and the off-chain components?

Yes. The web or mobile interface, its APIs and any off-chain back-end are tested in an application security assessment run alongside the audit, so together they cover the whole DApp.

We use a self-hosted instance of Plausible Analytics, an open-source, privacy-friendly web analytics tool, to measure aggregate traffic on our Service.

All analytics data is collected and stored on our self-hosted instance and is not shared with any third-party analytics provider. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect or store any Personal Data: statistics (such as pages visited, referrer, browser type and country) are anonymous and aggregated, and are used solely to understand and improve how the Service is used.
